“Women and families benefit from Doula services tremendously because, as much care that a woman can get during her actual labor, even before and afterwards, can really change the whole perception of somebody’s labor. You can have a labor that looks one certain way and another labor that looks - from a medical standpoint - the exact same way yet the difference is how a woman feels supported during that process. As a Midwife, births seem to cluster, having someone there as constant support to the mother-- I mean, Doula means “slave”, right?-- being able to give a mom exactly what she needs in that moment, that’s a fantastic thing to offer. A lot of women have families and friends who come into port; sometimes it’s nice to even have Doulas there to support the family and friends who are supporting the mom.

I had the privilege of working with DeBorah during my client’s labor. DeBorah was completely present for every single moment during her labor. One of the things I noticed is that my client relaxed immensely when DeBorah arrived in town to be with her before even the baby was born. So even the preparation and the work that she did with my client before her baby’s entrance was phenomenal, it was really a wonderful thing to witness. I saw DeBorah being present with every aspect of the labor with unending energy. It was a long labor, through the night – it’s very exhausting to work through the night - and she was there with my client supporting in the best way a woman can be supported. She was massaging, she offered food & drink, prepared different meals as an enticement, little peptalks-- just being there in a way that can really make or break a labor and change the way a labor can go. As someone’s feeling supported through the whole process it becomes less scary. I would absolutely recommend DeBorah as a Doula to anyone going into this process.”
